Diet fads have been around for a long time and each one says something different. With so much conflicting advice around weight loss, it’s difficult to know what will work.

While people do often lose weight on a traditional dieting system, they usually gain weight again when the diet stops – often leaving them heavier than before! You may be among the 95% of people who have experienced this.

At Sydney Strategic Therapy, we know that losing weight is more complex than this. Food is part of our culture, family and social life, and our eating habits are deeply ingrained in our subconscious. So consciously denying ourselves the foods that mean the most to us could actually increase our desire for it.

That’s why our weight loss program is not a diet. We use a virtual gastric band and other mind management techniques, including hypnotherapy, to help you form new habits that you can maintain over time.
There is no deprivation, so you’ll be liberated from thinking about food constantly. You’ll be able to eat consciously and listen to what your stomach tells you.

The result is steady, progressive weight loss without dieting. You will be free from the soul-destroying weight loss/gain cycle and excited about the possibilities of your life again.

About our Virtual Gastric Band Program

The Virtual Gastric Band Program is a non-surgical technique for weight loss. It uses the power of hypnosis to retrain your brain to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food.

By convincing your brain that your stomach is full after a certain amount, you won’t feel the need for larger amounts of food. You can lose weight steadily and permanently, without going through a diet cycle where you put weight back on.

Hypnotherapy changes how you think about food and gives you safe, predictable results.

  • This is definitely not a diet – it’s a long-term solution to your weight problems.
  • You will be able to eat whatever you want, but will be happier with smaller portions.
  • You won’t feel deprived, miserable or hungry – the issues that cause diets to fail.

We conduct the program over four weeks. In these weekly, one-hour sessions, your clinical hypnotherapist, Kim, will use hypnosis to:

  • create a permanent change in your eating habits
  • focus on the person you want to be.

It usually takes 28 days to create new habits to get you where you want to be and then enable you to stay there. This is not a short-term fix. But, if you commit to the process, the results will last into the long term.

How weight loss hypnotherapy works

Hypnotherapy is perfectly safe and enjoyable. We use it to help clients recover from many issues, including anxiety, overeating, smoking, phobias and negative thinking.

It can include a range of techniques like visualisation, neurolinguistic programming, root cause analysis and reframing.

You’ll remain in control at all times, and will actually leave the sessions feeling quite relaxed and refreshed.

After four sessions, you’ll feel confident and ready to strike out into your new life, getting slimmer and happier every day.

We can also provide a book that supports the program to give you extra guidance.

Why we don’t focus on the food

Most dieting systems involve calorie counting and points, and some form of deprivation or denial.

However, all of these things keep the brain thinking about food most of the time. If anything, you’re thinking about food more than you did before your diet.

This happens because we need comfort and inclusion as humans. So when you deny yourself comfort foods and eat different meals than the rest of your family:

  • your brain fights against it
  • your body fights against it
  • your day-to-day environment fights against it.

Consciously denying yourself a food can spark a desire for just that thing, so we don’t focus on cutting out particular foods.

We focus on training your brain to eat a little less of the foods that you love, which can actually lead to weight loss. Cutting down on those foods is achievable and sustainable.

Eating less and exercising more will lead to a better body shape, improved fitness and all-round health.
